Academics

ACADEMICS

We at HIPS, follow a multidimensional teaching approach meant to free students from the conventional boundaries limiting their learning capability. A innovative academic structure is followed where students are introduced to several interactive learning methods that involve audio/ visual lectures. Additionally, periodic group discussions and debates are responsible for further opening up new learning horizons. Moreover, project-based learning enhances your child’s critical thinking skills, thereby preparing them for the complex world outside. By moving beyond the traditional academic pathway, your child will efficiently be able to think intellectually, grow creatively and develop effective problem-solving capabilities. Our precisely-structured academic approach is meant to not just develop academic knowledge, but also help students uncover every hidden aspect of their vision and passion.

SCHOLASTIC - CO SCHOLASTIC - CLUBS

To streamline our academic structure, we have categorized the activities as ‘Scholastic’ and ‘Non-scholastic’. Scholastic assignments focus largely on written class tests, activity tests and are meant analyze the daily class performances of students to enhance their speaking and writing skills. Co-scholastic assignments, on the other hand, are ones that focus on specific skill-based activities in fields of art, dance and music to name a few.

English

For centuries English has been playing a key role in bringing cultures together. The language has opened up doors to economic, social and political developments across the globe. Presently, India has the second largest English-speaking population in the world, and this can definitely be used to our advantage. Therefore, we ensure our students are introduced to ‘English Communication Skills’ early in life, so that they are able to gradually excel and communicate confidently while they keep moving up the academic ladder.

Kannada

Whether used in the form of mother tongue or merely to communicate while away from home, Kannada surely illuminates a sense of harmony among the communicators. That’s exactly what we want our students to experience, a sense of oneness, a bond that remain unbreakable. We take pride in teaching our students ‘Kannada’, one of the most beautiful Dravidian languages that brings people together.

Hindi

Hindi plays a major role of bringing most Indians together. Many of us have grown up speaking Hindi and still use it to communicate with our close family & friends. Today's generation needs to know why the diplomats prefer speaking in their native language even while addressing on global platforms. We take pride in what our country stands for and we believe that it must be imbibed in our students at a very early age. Let HIPS be that starting point.

Physics

Physics in simple words can be defined as a body of science that deals with matter and energy and their interaction. Often schools tend to stress more upon the theoretical explanation of concepts in physics, and focus too little on providing students with the most needed practical knowledge. But, here at HIPS, we ensure our students become familiar with the practical applications of the concepts they learn. Therefore, you can usually find our students spending a good part of their physics class in the physics lab. We do not want our students to only memorize laws, but also understand how those laws apply in the practical world.

To make physics-learning interesting yet productive, we use highly interactive presentation sessions that include not just the practical explanation, but also a Q&A session where students get to learn more by asking questions.

Chemistry

Chemistry is a branch of science that deals with the study of properties, structure of substances, the transformation they undergo and the energy absorbed or released during this transformation. When talking about chemistry, the first thing that probably pops up to one's mind is a colourfully drawn periodic table displaying the 118 elements.

But, there’s a lot more to chemistry than just a periodic table. The subject also covers topics such as the atomic structure, chemical bonding, solutions and mixtures, thermochemistry, acids & basis, etc. With so much on the plate, students can at times find it quite overwhelming. So, just like physics, our chemistry lectures too are highly interactive, covering practical lectures, Q&A sessions and quizzes.

Biology

Biology is a body of science that deals with the study of living organisms, their origin, physiology, morphology, anatomy, behaviour and other vital processes. Biology can simply be defined as the study of life. We believe the best way to teach biology is by relating biological concepts to real life. For instance, we take our students to our in-campus garden to help them better understand the process of photosynthesis. Similarly, an educational time-lapse video of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly is the best way to explain life-cycle.

Just like physics and chemistry, we ensure that an interactive teaching approach is applied to biology as well. This reduces the complexity of the topic in question and keeps students engaged at all times.

General Sciences

General Science provides an all-inclusive knowledge about the three major bodies of science – Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The primary aim of the subject is to help students become acquainted with the fundamentals of these 3 major branches of science, as this will offer them a brief understanding of various sub-fields with sciences, such as mechanics, zoology, astronomy, ecology, botany and neurobiology to name a few.

Environmental Studies

The subject will offer a comprehensive understanding of the present-day environmental issues and the implications of such issues on human life. It informs students about the major factors such as climate change, pollution, global warming, and ever-increasing food & energy demands. All of these and many more such factors are the primary causes of environmental degradation. Through environmental studies, we try to instil awareness among students about these causes and how they come together contribute towards saving the environment from further degradation.

Economics

Economics is a branch of social science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of resources, and at the same time analyses the choices of individuals, governments around the world with the intention to efficiently allocate these resources. Economics has 2 major branches:

Microeconomics – deals with the study of decisions made by individuals and firms to allocate resources.

Macroeconomics – deals with the study of the performances of the economy as a whole.
Students will be made familiar with all of these economics-related topics and many more during the academic year.

Business Studies

Business studies aims at offering students a complete overview of the different elements responsible for operating a business. This includes, accounts, human resource, operations, advertising, marketing and entrepreneurship to name a few. Industrial visits are also organized periodically to offer students a first-hand view of how a business functions and what role each team within the company is expected to play. Students are also expected to complete business projects that demand a good amount of research.

Accounts

Financial accounting is defined as a process of analysing, summarising and reporting a company’s financial transactions through financial statements. Accounting is all about numbers and complex calculations. As a result, many students find the concepts a bit complicated.

To reduce the level of complexity, we follow the traditional, but most effective, step-by-step approach. We first introduce them to the basic terms often used in accountancy, each with a detailed explanation. Once the basic foundation is built, they are all set to learn some beginner accounting concepts. These are practical sessions where students come face to face with real-world scenarios starting from the easy ones and slowly moving up the complexity ladder.

Commerce

Commerce is an exchange of goods and services between businesses. It focuses on the distribution aspect of a business and not the production part. The process of buying or selling of a product is known as a transaction. All the transactions related to that item in an economy is known as commerce.

Students are introduced to all of these concepts and many more starting from the very fundamentals to the most complicated ones.

Social Studies

Social studies can be defined as the study of human society – how individuals live and how they work together. It includes subjects like history, geography, civics, economics, sociology, political science and psychology to name a few. Social studies often deals with human behaviour, resources and institutions. Our social studies lecture will prepare students to effectively interactive with people from all cultures and communities. This will give them a precise understanding of how a society functions.

Entrepreneurship

A book alone cannot teach you entrepreneurship. You need to start thinking like an entrepreneur. It is important to find ways to solve problems that people around you are facing. We intend to teach students the difference between a businessman and an entrepreneur. A businessman may merely focus on making profit, but an entrepreneur is always on a lookout for solutions that can make their customer’s lives easy. In easy words, an entrepreneur can be a good businessman, but a businessman may not always succeed in being an entrepreneur, and that’s exactly what we want our students to know about entrepreneurship.

General Knowledge

In which year was the United Nations established? Which 5 colours make up the Olympic rings? Which city in India is known as the pink city? While your child may be able to answer most of these question, they may struggle with at least one of them. During our general knowledge lectures, we offer students the answers to some of the most difficult general knowledge questions. From sports to history, science to mathematics, prominent personalities to politics, we make sure to cover almost every topic possible.

Value Education

Value education contributes greatly towards enhancing the overall character of an individual. Apart from character development, it is also largely responsible for one’s spiritual development. The primary purpose of value education is to instil within students the right attitude that will help them confidently face the world outside. Vocal Music

Singing is an art that demands dedication and discipline. It requires a good amount of practice. But, practice without direction will make room for errors and incorrect techniques. We at HIPS, have the most qualified vocal coaches who train students on various vocal techniques that form the base for classic Indian as well as western music. Each practical vocal training session is backed by a corresponding theoretical lecture.

Instrumental Music

According to a few experts, learning a musical instrument has innumerable mental benefits, one of which is an improved memory. It not only improves one’s cognitive memory but also the muscle memory. Playing a musical instrument keeps you busy and as a result relieves a good amount of stress. Most importantly it makes one confident and builds within one a sense of achievement.

Introducing students to meditation early on in life, can help them calm their mind. We teach students various meditation techniques, which includes simple breathing exercises and stretches, all of which facilitate towards relieving stress.

Social Media

Over the past decade, we have witnessed a tremendous surge in social media users. While some use it to merely stay connected to people, others view it as an effective tool to promote their business. It is said that, ‘Every picture has a story to tell.’ But, merely clicking a few random snaps may fail to portray what you intend to describe. Our expert photography instructor will train students on various technical aspects of photography that will help them capture images that bring stories to life.

Environmental Awareness

Factors such as deforestation, pollution, industrial emissions and several others have greatly contributed towards environmental degradation. It is crucial that the necessary precautionary steps are taken before it’s too late. Informing children about environmental awareness while they are still young is a great step forward. Young minds tend to absorb information comparatively faster. Through our environmental awareness clubs, we inform students about various effective methods to keep the environment safe.

Mathletes Club

Many students find math complicated. In most cases, the reason for this is not the child’s comprehension capability, but a complex teaching methodology. In our matheletes club, we aspire to turn our students into math athletes, where they don’t just learn maths but in fact fall in love with the subject. Our math instructor puts into practice the most interactive teaching methods with an intention to build an excitement among students about the subject.

This has, in the past, led to a good number of our students to competing on state and national levels. We have a team of qualified sports instructors in our athletic club who are capable of efficiently training students based on their individual skill levels.

Commerce & GK

Commerce in easy words can be defined as the exchange of services or goods between businesses. Every nation across the globe is expected to manage commerce in a way that generates jobs, produces goods/services in demand and enhances the overall well-being of individuals. But, the entire process is indeed not as easy as it sounds. It is important to know about the technicalities involved in managing the global commerce, and that’s exactly what we intend to teach our students in the Commerce & GK club.
